In 1969, Tobia Scarpa (1935- ) earned a degree in architecture form the Università di Venezia. The same year, he won the ‘Compasso d’Oro’ award for the ‘Soriana’ easy chair. Some of the objects Scarpa has designed are exhibited in the most important museums worldwide, beginning with the ‘Libertà’ chair at the Louvre in Paris. Scarpa works with public and private clients, such as the Benetton Group, for whom he designed the entire complex in the industrial area of Castrette di Villorba (Treviso). Since 2002 he has taught in the Design Department of the Istituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice.
